Being Thankful, what a beautiful thing that is. It’s so much more than saying “thanks,” it’s an emotion which brings with it feelings of joy, happiness, admiration and states of reflection.

Okay, we’re Canadian so technically our Thanksgiving was in October but TECHNICALLY taking time to reflect on the things that we are all thankful about shouldn’t be a “once a year” thing right?…Side note “Thanksgiving” is officially when they play two NFL  football games on Thursday afternoon but I digress.

Facebook newsfeeds, Twitter streams and Instagram profiles will be littered with posts about being thankful over the next few days (for those of you with American friends). We’re certainly looking forward to seeing those roll in just like they did in October.

As part of my relatively new  daily routine I have tried to pick at least one thing I am thankful for each day. I got this idea from listening to a great Tim Ferris Podcast interview with Tonny Robbins (Must listen to this 2 part interview btw). What I started noticing was that magically (it’s not that magical actually) I was feeling a lot happier, more content and truly started to appreciate more. All really great feelings that inevitably were influencing the way I worked each day.

I want to encourage you to find times to be thankful for the things that enrich your lives both in business and in personal life EACH DAY (or at least more than once in October or November depending on which side of the 49th you sit). A few things we at OP are thankful for:

  1. Our clients and the positive attitudes they bring each day
  2. Our staff
  3. The ability to brainstorm and collaborate
  4. Mentors that share their wisdom and experiences
  5. Being challenged (by co-workers and clients)
  6. Access to clean water and an ample supply of food
  7. The ability to express ourselves freely both online and off
