It’s right around the corner, this year in chilly New York and based on the Conference Championship games coming up this weekend, regardless of who wins, it is sure to be a dandy come February 2nd.

Let’s preview this weekend’s match-ups first:

San Francisco 49ers @ Seattle Seahawks

The 49ers seem to be struck with momentum as of late, winning in impressive fashion over the first two weeks of the playoffs. They have one of the most stout defensive units in the league, Bowman is playing to MVP levels and Kaepernick and his impressive receiving crew are flying high right now! On the other side of the coin, the Seahawks look pretty impressive as well. You talk about stout defensive units, how about the defensive backfield for the hawks! Kaepernick is going to have to be precise and confident in his ability to move the ball through the air if that’s the route they want to go. Russell Wilson continues to do his job masterfully, just manages the game, doesn’t turn the ball over and makes a couple key plays with his legs. Both teams have fantastic runningbacks and Seattle in mid January is going to be pretty cold so we may see a heavy dose of Frank Gore and Marshawn Lynch instead of an aerial attack by either team.

My pick: Seattle in a close one (The 12th man will be the difference)

New England Patriots @ Denver Broncos

If you love football, there is probably no better matchup this playoffs than this one! Two of the best QBs to ever play the game face off in what will be an instant classic. Brady has owned Manning over their history playing against each other but Manning is on fire setting NFL records in the regular season. Brady has turned an offense full of “scrubs” into a team that is one win away from the playoffs while Manning leads an offence with depth at the running back situation and on the outside at receiver. There will not be near as much defence in this game as the 49ers @ Seahawks game, expect a high scoring, thriller at Mile High stadium. I am very much looking forward to witnessing what could be one of the best playoff games ever this Sunday as the two best quarterbacks to play the game go head to head.

My pick: Denver in a shootout (Manning will outsmart New England and the supporting cast on offence will be too much for them to handle)
